Fly Pinays

Background

Our Annual Fly Pinays Leadership Summit is a regional conference that has drawn crowds from across California. Featuring TED-style Talks, cultural and leadership workshops and panel sessions, our Annual Fly Pinays has featured Genevieve Jopanda the Chief of Staff to the California State Treasurer, DJ Micah "Noodles" Mahinay, Bulosan Center Founder Dr. Robyn Rodriguez and many more.
Since 2017, we have intentionally held our Annual Fly Pinays every March to observe Womyn's Herstory Month. Uniting around the shared values of honoring our histories and advancing our stories, our conference raises up the ideals of sisterhood and mentorship while educating our community on our Filipino culture and rich traditions.

History

Piqued by community requests and inspired within our membership, we laid the ground work for our event in the fall of 2016. These efforts eventually led to the hosting of our first Annual Fly Pinays Leadership Summit in March 2017.
Working with student and adult populations across the Northern California region, our Annual Fly Pinays program coordinates year-round to curate, cultivate and grow community spaces that respond to and reflect the diversity of Pinay experiences and identities. Years of our Fly Pinays work represents the faith that our community holds in the value and importance of creating pipelines for Pinay success. We can't wait to continue building and developing this powerful work with all of you.

Our Fly Pinays Leadership Summit is made possible by the efforts of our volunteer committee of students, adults and families. They serve as the driving force behind the messaging, program and overall production of our Fly Pinays events.
